Creating A Business Instagram Account
Ready to launch your brand on Instagram? This guide will help you create and optimize a business account so you can start growing your orbit, reaching new audiences, and building lasting visibility.
In order to create an Instagram account for your business, you must first create an account on Instagram.
There are two ways to create an Instagram account. You can create a new account from the Instagram app or Instagram.com. If you already have an existing Facebook or Instagram account, you can use your existing account to create a new Instagram account. Both accounts will be added to the same Accounts Center and have access to connected experiences.

Create a new Instagram account
To create an account if you're new to Instagram and you don't have a Facebook account:
- Download the Instagram app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Once the app is installed, tap
Instagram logo to open it.
- Tap Create New Account and enter your email address or mobile number, then tap Next. Note: If you sign up with email, make sure you enter your email address correctly and choose an email address that only you can access. If you log out and forget your password, you'll need to be able to access your email to get back into your Instagram account.
- Enter the confirmation code sent to your email address or mobile number, then tap Next.
- Create a password, then tap Next.
- Enter your birthday, then tap Next. Note: Use your own birthday, even if this account is for a business, a pet or something else. Learn more about why we ask for your birthday.
- Add your name, then tap Next.
- Create a username, then tap Next.
- Read Instagram’s terms and policies, then tap I agree, if you agree to the terms, to create your account.
- Add a profile picture, then tap Next. If you’d like to add a profile picture later, tap Skip.
- If you want to share your profile picture as your first post, tap
Toggle, then tap Done.
To create an account if you have a Facebook account
If you create a new Instagram account using your Facebook account, both accounts will use the same login information. You may also be able to sync profile information across your accounts, like your name, profile picture, username and avatar. You can manage profile syncing at any time in your Accounts Center.
- Download the Instagram app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Once the app is installed, tap
Instagram logo to open it.
- If your Facebook account shows, you can:
- Tap Continue as [name] to learn more about what happens when you create an Instagram account with your Facebook account.
- Choose not to use your Facebook account and tap Create new account, then follow the steps above to create a new Instagram account.
- To create an Instagram account with your Facebook account, tap Yes, continue, then tap Next to sync your name, profile picture and avatar across apps. Note: You’ll be prompted to log into your Facebook account if you're currently logged out.
- If you'd like to create an Instagram account without your Facebook account, tap Continue without Facebook.
- Create a username, then tap Next.
- Read Instagram’s terms and policies, then tap I agree, if you agree to the terms, to create your account.
Security & saving your login info
If you created your account recently, people on Instagram may see that you have a new account. Learn about keeping your account secure.
You may be asked to save your login info. If you choose to save your login information, you won’t need to enter it the next time you log back into your account.
Setting up your Business Profile:
On Instagram, you can change your personal profile or professional creator account into a business account to access features that can help you grow your business. Business accounts are best for retailers, local businesses, brands, organizations and service providers. You can switch back to a creator account or personal profile anytime. With a business account, you have the option to display or hide your business category and contact information on your profile.
Before you begin
- To set up an Instagram business account, you need to create an Instagram account or use an existing Instagram account.
- You can only have 5 Instagram accounts at a time, without having to log out and log back in.
Set up a business account on Instagram
To set up a business account:

Tap
Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap Switch to professional account.
- Tap Next.
- Select a category for your business and tap Switch to professional account.
- Select Business and tap Next.
- Add contact details and tap Next. To skip this step, tap Don’t use my contact info.
- To share logins using Accounts Center, tap Login to Facebook. You can follow the steps to connect your business account to a Facebook Page associated with your business. This step is optional and will make it easier to use all of the features available for businesses across Meta. Note: At this time, only one Facebook Page can be connected to your business account. To skip this step, tap Skip.
- Set up your professional account by completing the optional steps or tap X on the top right corner to return to your profile.
- To display or hide business information on your profile, go to your profile and tap Edit profile. Go to Profile display below Public business information to choose whether you want to hide or display your category label and contact info. Then, tap Done.
Switch your creator account to a business account on Instagram
To switch your creator account to a business account:

Tap
Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.

Tap
Menu in the top right.
- Tap Creator tools and controls.
- Tap Switch account type.
- Tap Switch to business account.
- Tap Switch.
To display or hide business information on your profile, go to your profile and tap Edit profile. Go to Profile display below Public business information to choose whether you want to hide or display your category label and contact info. Then, tap Done.
